An opportunity of a lifetime is waiting for Kamva Ndlebe (17), one of Saints’ talented soccer players. He is heading to London as part of a Tottenham Hotspur FC Academy invitational side from South Africa.
Kamva will be participating in football trials and training at Tottenham Hotspur in front of top scouts and coaches.
“I want to develop and see how playing at such a high level is. It is going to be amazing.”
Kamva primarily plays as a left-winger, but can also play on the right wing.
“I started playing football as a 12-year-old at home with my cousins, and I grew a love for soccer. When I arrived at Saints in grade 7, my football improved dramatically,” says Kamva, who moved from Carletonville to Potch.
Kamva’s progression has primarily been due to hard work in the past year, as well as a hunger to succeed.
“I started at Future Stars Academy in 2023 and I’ve improved a lot, especially in terms of my consistency over the last year.”
It has been quite a rise for Kamva, who now can impress scouts at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Besides the football on the pitch, Kamva will also get a chance to soak in the London air, during his time there. The tour itinerary includes attending a Premier League match between Tottenham and West Ham and an excursion around the most popular sights in London.
“I want to see Son (Heung-Min) play live,” says Kamva, whose favourite players are Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo.
His advice to others, “Hard work pays off. Do not give up on something you want to achieve.”
