12-year-old Leanny Makusha recently experienced the euphoria of winning, not one or two, but four Saturdays in a row!
She captured four gold medals and was part of four trophy-winning teams at Saints Christian School!
Leanny, who is currently in grade 6 at Saints, won three gold medals in netball and soccer tournaments at SACSSA (Southern African Christian School Sports Association) national tournaments and a gold medal with the U/11 soccer team at the Future Stars Academy (FSA) tournament!
She excels as a goal shooter for the U/13 netball team and her eye for goals helped her team to victory at the SACSSA Junior Netball tournament.
Her all-round versatility came to the forefront in soccer where she wore the goalkeeping gloves as the number one goalkeeper for the U/19 girls soccer team in the SACSSA Senior Soccer tournament. Her positioning, agility and reflexes were on full display as she played a key part in the team winning gold.
In her third SACSSA tournament (Junior Soccer) she helped the U/13 girls team to victory, playing as an outfield player. This shows her adaptability, being able to play in various positions.
She finished off her golden run in goals for the U/11 soccer team at the FSA tournament. Her saves in the penalty shootout in the semi-final and final and crucial saves during the tournament caught the eye of many keen soccer observers.
Leanny was duly awarded with the goalkeeper of the U/11 tournament for her outstanding efforts.
We are looking forward to seeing her grow and excel even more on the sport fields!
