ENABLING EVERY GENERATION TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL THROUGH JESUS CHRIST

Academics

Grade 1-2

The ACE Curriculum, provided by AEE, that we use as a basis for our Grade 1 and 2 learners is a multi-sensory, phonetic learning-to-read programme which teaches the basic reading fundamentals.

It teaches the learners the basic phonic sounds and trains them how to blend the sounds together to form words. The programme encourages verbal and written communication through the use of games, songs, stories, poems and many other fun activities that young learners enjoy.

Reading is practised regularly to ensure that a good foundation for reading is laid.

Basic Math skills are introduced, developed, mastered, reviewed and constantly reinforced in a variety of imaginative ways throughout the year.

Life Skills is an important part of developing our learners in a holistic manner. Here they learn about personal hygiene, road safety and personal interaction, among others.

Caring teachers keep a close eye on learners who are struggling and contact outside experts to evaluate these learners. Parents may then choose to make use of the services that these experts recommend. We make space and time for it to be done during school hours at school. We constantly re-evaluate the content of our curriculum and add concepts as they become needed.

Grade 3-12

The curriculum that we use for Grade 3 and up is provided by SwitchedOn Education.

It offers an exclusively built, comprehensive, digital curriculum for learners from grades 3 through to 12.

Included are lessons in core subject areas: Bible, English Language Arts, Afrikaans, Math, Science, History and Geography as well as a diverse list of online electives, career and technical courses.

We also teach Life Skills, Technology, Creative Arts and Economics and Management Sciences in book form.

Our SwitchedOn Education courses are rigorous, interactive and provide instruction based on a Christian worldview, whilst encouraging learners to consider challenging questions and higher-order thinking skills. The curriculum is of a high standard and this was verified by several high schools in our area.

Our teaching is subject-based and the teachers rotate from class to class, presenting their lesson, which each learner has on their laptop in front of them.

Learners then take notes in their books and take this home to study for quizzes and tests to ensure that they understand the content. The curriculum is therefore interactive. Courses include text-based lessons, assignments, quizzes and tests that keep learners engaged while they learn.

Optional external web links, interactive learning games, audio and video clips and off-computer assignments help students develop the skills necessary for academic success in a media-rich environment.

Content is constantly updated to move with the times and to incorporate any new ideas or theories in the field. Teachers also teach current affairs and make it part of daily teaching materials.

Practical sessions with projects are also encouraged. Caring teachers and teachers' assistants ensure that no learner is left behind. Extra classes are available, free of charge, to ensure learners get the help needed.
